Rashid Babar Turay was born on the 12th December, 1965 in Daru, Eastern Sierra Leone. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Bsc. Hons.) Degree with Honors in Accounting and Finance and a Master of Philosophy in Accounting. Both from the Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
He has well over 30 years experience in the public service. He joined the Commission in 2000 as a Prevention Officer, and in 2004 he was promoted to Senior Prevention Officer. In 2006, he became a Principal Prevention Officer until 2009 that he got promoted to the position of Head of the Systems and Processes Review Unit.
In 2014 he was appointed the Deputy Director of the Systems and Processes Review Department then, and in 2017 he was promoted to the position of Director of the Prevention Department (formerly Systems and Processes Review Department).
Rashid has acquired enormous skills and expertise in corruption prevention through trainings, workshops and study tours he has attended in Geneva, United Kingdom, Nigeria, Malaysia, Botswana to mention but a few, over his 20 years dedication in fighting graft.
He also has an excellent communication and persuasion skills with a proven track record in attitudinal change. He is affable and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.
He is married with three beautiful children.
